Manhiça is a town near Maputo, capital of Mozambique. With the highest rates of malaria infection in the world, there is one of the most important scientific research centers on malaria and other infectious diseases in Africa.
Led by researchers from the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, the Spanish Cooperation Agency and with a very high participation of Mozambican scientists, the center leads the world investigation in the search for the vaccine against the parasite that causes around three million deaths per year.
