Sikhs live in Punjab, the richest region in Northern India. Their religion was founded in the XV century by Guru Nanak, the last of the greater monotheisms.
They abolished the caste system predominant in India and live in community, giving 10% of their income and time to its endeavors. With those resources they build free public community kitchens, schools, hospitals and accommodations open to all religions.
They have always had a tense relationship with the Indian central government, due to some independence movements. This has caused a diaspora to western cities in the last years, since the Blue Star operation and the murder of Indira Gandhi.
